The Close Encounter floor lamp by Kerst Koopman is an iconic piece of Dutch postmodern Space-Age design from the 1980s and far more than just a light source. This rare and sculptural object combines illumination, storage and display in one striking architectural form, making it a true conversation piece for any interior. The design is constructed from stacked cylindrical volumes in lacquered wood and PVC and is topped with a glowing opaline glass sphere that emits a warm, atmospheric light. Originally part of the Bergers collection and produced as a limited, signed edition, it is now a highly sought-after collector's item. Its multifunctional layout allows it to serve as a plant stand, side table, magazine or book holder and even an umbrella stand, while the impressive size of approximately 185 × 65 × 65 cm gives it a strong sculptural presence. Whether placed in a living space, studio or gallery, the Close Encounter stands out as a perfect blend of art, design and functionality, bringing both light and character into the room even when switched off. The lamp requires one E27/26 lightbulb and currently has an EU-plug.

Good. The piece is in great shape: both the glass and white plastic are looking great. Inside the two plant stands, clear user-wear is visible due to its use as plant stand, see last pictures.
